Garmin Forerunner 220 Best Running Innovation for Women Says HRWC

Garmin Forerunner 220 is the best new running innovation for women in 2013 according to the test staff at the Heart Rate Watch Company.

Garmin Forerunner 220 is the best new running innovation for 2013 for women according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.

GREAT FIT and LIGHT

“Garmin made this watch the lightest fully integrated GPS running watch ever made at a mere 1.4 ounces,” says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, “They also made it fit small wrists better with a hinged band and it is 17% thinner than the 210.”

“It all boils down to size, fit and features because all prior GPS watches were not made to fit women,” says Squire.

VIBRATION ALERTS

“Garmin added vibration alerts to the 220, which the 210 did not have, and that makes it far more useful because you can miss audible alerts when you have environmental noise,” says Squire. He adds, “I set alerts up as miles and that way the watch vibrates on your wrist at each mile marker – it’s a good way to periodically keep track of pacing.”

INDOOR CADENCE WITH NO FOOT POD

“Garmin built an accelerometer into the Forerunner 220 so it can get run cadence, distance and pace on a treadmill or indoors with no foot pod,” says Squire. He adds, “It eliminates the pain of putting sensors on and off the shoe laces all the time.”

BLUETOOTH SMART INSTANT DATA TRANSFER

“This watch has Bluetooth Smart embedded so you can upload data while mobile to your iPhone for more immediate viewing,” says Squire.

FULL COLOR, HIGH RESOLUTION SCREEN

The 220 has a full color, high resolution screen that is 108px, so it is significantly higher resolution than previous versions. “Especially for people that need reading glasses this makes a big difference,” says Squire.

WATER RESISTANT TO 50 METERS

Previous Garmin GPS running watches were IPX7 which is a fancy way of saying you shouldn’t swim with it. “No such worries with the new Garmin 220 as it is water tight to 50 meters,” says Squire.

“If you would like to talk to a real GPS watch expert about your running watch needs then simply call us at 866-586-7129,” says Squire. He adds, “We have elite woman’s athlete testers that test all this equipment.”
